Fig 1 shows the smoothed daily COVID-19 confirmed cases and deaths for THe US and the UK. It is seen that currently, the US is lagging about 5 weeks behind the UK.

Figs 2 shows the % of cases that are the COVID-19 delta variant for the EU+UK and for the US. This is extracted from chart of "Relative Variant Genome Frequency per Region (exponentially smoothed alpha=0.3)" available in https://www.gisaid.org/hcov19-variants/. The two curves are again seen to be separated by about 5 weeks as might be expected if the driving factor in the increase in confirmed cases is the prevalence of the delta variant. However, the US curve seems to be topping out at a lower value of the variant. This is strange since other sources give the US delta variant reaching 83%.
