Dr. Makoto Asai is a particle physicist, and the leader of the SLAC Geant4 team.

He received his doctorate in physics from Hiroshima University in 1988 with the NA23 experiment at CERN. He joined to the SDC Collaboration at the SSC, and then moved to the ATLAS collaboration at the LHC. He has been holding positions at SLAC since 2001 and appointed as the Physics Experiment Support Manager in Scientific Computing and Computing Services (SCCS) in 2001 through 2008. His current research interests include simulation of interaction of particles with matter and its applications. He is one of the founding members of the Geant4 collaboration and he is currently on the role of the Deputy Spokesperson of the collaboration.
