The interactive compute login pools are rebooted on the first Sunday of each month, between 10:00pm - 10:30pm Pacific Time.  This facilitates the patching and activation of updated kernels, glibc, and other shared libraries.  Periodic reboots to enable security patches are required by SLAC Cyber Security and Department of Energy. The Sunday night monthly reboots are staggered between 10-10:30pm.  A 'wall' message is sent to every terminal starting 10 minutes prior to the reboot.

The monthly reboot schedule was announced to the unixusers-l@slac.stanford.edu email list on February 6, 2020 (view archive of that email).

The iris and flora login pools are rebooted weekly, very early Sunday mornings.

The flora and rhel5-* login pools will be retired in 2020.
