Purpose: Establish a baseline for current and projected effort in SCA Data Management

Date: 2:30- 5:30, Wednesday February 15, 2012

Where: 3rd Floor Kavli

Invitees: TonyJ, Anders, RichardD, Amber, Homer, Norman, Amedeo, Jacek

Preamble:

SCA is looking at a transition period as it becomes more aligned with Lab-wide scientific computing and starts fulfilling its original charter of serving more than PPA. We are also looking at manpower requests from PPA for LSST, CDMS and SiD. So it is time to sort out where we stand on current workload and make projections for the future. We will start with information gathering.

Agenda:

  • Support of LSST camera, Fermi, EXO and general (Tony - 30')
  • CDMS needs overall (Anders - 10')
  • HPS needs (Homer - 15')
  • LCLS data management needs (Amedeo - 15')
  • LCSim technical needs (Norman - 20')
  • LSST DM needs (Jacek - 15')

General Charge:

  • Description of work
  • Technologies supported
  • Lifetime/evolution of the technologies
  • Manpower involved
  • Areas of highest concern
  • Any known commonalities with other projects
  • Any obvious efficiencies to undertake
  • Any decisions that need making

Desired Outcome:

We hope to have an overall picture of where SCA manpower is being applied; what the current commitments are and some projection of future ones; and lists of concerns and, if we're lucky, some ideas of changes to make to existing efforts.
