h1. Minutes:
# We reviewed the actions from last time.
## James has installed MS project and will update the schedule.
## He confirmed that the SMDS4 can be used in a micro step mode, and required hardware is being sent for evaluation.
## A manual hardware controller is coming from Hytec.
## Tom has spoke with Leif and motor investigation for BC1 is ongoing.
# There is still no network connection in the Bldg 25 Lab Area. Doug sent another reminder to the SCCS team today.
# James mentioned some problems with test equipment at Hytec, as a result our shipment was delayed until next week.
# We discussed our apprehension regarding a single vendor with no backup
## Doug has looked into other vendors for the motor controllers, including an [IP motor controller|http://www.tews.com/Navigation/Internet/products-button,templateId=fs-topic.jsp,mid=1754,sid=5314.html] from [Tews|http://www.tews.com]
## At this point, we are awaiting the arrival of equipment from Hytec.
# Tom spoke with Leif regarding the BC1 motion.
## He confirmed that the discussion regarding belt drive versus gear drive was speaking to the linkage between the motor and the screw. Tom indicated that a gear drive was preferable to a belt drive.
## We would like to test the BC1 platform with comparable weight loading, to see the required force and motion characteristics firsthand.
# We reviewed the schedule
## Many of the tasks are okay as listed.
## Doug will update software tasks this week.
## James will update the schedule with additional hardware tasks, relating to prototyping and installation, by Thursday.
