What is a "federated login"? An access control federation is a group of institutions who agree to respect each other's login process. It enables institutions to offer services to people from other institutions in the federation, without having to generate duplicate accounts for those external users. For example, an external collaborator whose home institution is Brown University will select Brown University from the federated login page when they want to log into SLAC Confluence. It's more secure for institutions, and more convenient for users. SLAC is making changes to systems and accounts to enable federated login.
