Data and timing cables

Necessary hardware for connecting data and timing

  • One 24 channel type B fiber MTP/MPO optics cable . If the detector is in vacuum, a fiber feed through needs to be used
  • Multimode to Single mode conversion box
  • 4 40Gbps SM or MM transceivers for data. Either one or another,
  • 3 MTP/MPO Fiber optics cables
  • 1 40Gbps SM or MM transceiver for timing
  • MTP fiber breakout

The detector will be connected to the MM to SM converter box (input LEAP0) using the 24 channel type A/B cable. LEAP0 LANE[3:0] and LANE[7:4] ports will be connected to the data acquisition server using two FO cables and 4 transceivers. LANE[11:9] (namely lane 11) will be connected to the LCLSII timing system using the MTP fiber breakout, remaining transceiver and cable. The MM to SM converter box has to be as close as possible to the detector.

If a type B cable is used, you need a straight coupler (both keys of both fiber optics cables are on one side).

If a type A cable is used, you need a cross coupler (one key on one side, and the other on the other side).

Detector attachment to the cooling system

To connect the detector to the cooling system, use the hardware mentioned here.
