Hi All,
We will have a beam line meeting Monday at 10am in the Group C conference room.
Last week’s meeting:
Francois’ talk at the Wednesday morning meeting on Aug 20th:
(Francois, please upload your talk to the confluence page above 08.20.2014 Wed….)

Agenda:
1) Hall B work - update: Francois
Francois went through the slides he showed last Wed with comments on work since then.
2) Neutron shield inside the vacuum chamber between target and front-end-boards - update: Takashi and Marco
Marco has made a picture showing room for about 5 cm of borated plastic thickness which will give a factor of 2 reduction in neutrons on the mother boards.
3) Beam line controls and monitoring;
For meetings we should start to discuss the beam line controls and monitoring. So far all attention
was towards hardware installation. Now almost all the elements are now in place, and is time to get
grip on controls and monitoring, magnets, halo counters, scaler setups, harps etc. Who is going to
do what, interface with slow control group and accelerator ops. Stepan
Stepan may not be able to attend meeting - preparing talks for ARR.

4) Bubble Dosimeter to measure accurately neutrons near front-end-boards outside the vacuum chamber - see attachment.  Clive and Takashi
Here is more info about the bubble detector. (post meeting email from Takashi on 26 August 2014
Maker: Bubble Technology Industries www.bubbletech.ca
US Distributer: Pulcir www.pulcir.com
Price: Model BD-PND  $164/ea, $156/ea (GSA discount)The bubble reader is too expensive (~$9K). Since the company is in Canada, the shipping cost will be ~$100.Takashi
Post meeting:
Hello Takashi, I talked to Pavel and Keith from Radiation department about this detector.
They do not have problem if we buy and install, but they both seems do
not like it. Pavel said they are very difficult to calibrate, are very non linear
and have limited range. Stepan - 26 August 2014
OK, we should ask the radiation group to provide calibrated and reliable neutron monitor.
We need at least two neutron monitors; one in front of the vacuum box to monitor neutrons from upstream and another on top of the vacuum box above the target to monitor neutrons from the target. Can they provide two neutron monitors?  Takashi - 26 August 2014

5) Target update: Marco
According to Marco, there is a designer working on the assembly, but there won't be anything to show for Monday. Clive

6) Read and send corrections to Stepan for beam documents:
See August 13, 2014 email from Stepan - (Please send us a link for all pertinent beam line documents.)
7) Other?

Ken
