Cleaning

If you drop a lens or somehow handle in a non-UHV compatible way, please contact Kelsey to clean OR clean yourself. The following standard was provided by RXOPTICS (the lens makers) for different scenarios.

METHOD: put lenses in clean vessel with fresh acetone. Let them sit for NO LONGER THAN 10 seconds in the acetone

  1. Never touch them to water, this will cause pitting in the Be lens rendering it useless to us
  2. If you note particles/dust, use clean+dry air and blow it of
  3. It is possible to bake particulate matter onto the lenses with X-rays
  4. Don't use alcohol on them, RXOPTICS said this will leave residue on the lens and they need to be cleaned again

Important Notes

*****In the process of creating a clean, dry storage for the lenses***** PLEASE MAKE SURE ONCE THEY ARE STORED THIS WAY TO UPKEEP IT, COMPANY EMPHASIZED THEY NEED TO BE STORED IN THIS MANNER

Make sure you are aware of the hazards of solid beryllium. This is the RXOPTICS provided SDS for beryllium. Reference it when necessary (i.e. if you want to clean a lens made dirty).

Serialization

We are in the process of inventorying them and getting them serialized. We have a majority of lenses serialized. They have a three digit number not associated with "R" or "D" values either etched on before or after these values.

What make a lens unique is the "R" and the three digit number.

Example "001 R=100um D=..." is different from "001 R=50um D=..."
