2022-01-11 Detector Planning Meeting notes

• 2021-2 events:
  • Projects new starts:
    • ePixM project plan submitted, baselined in P6.  Mech design review slips to Jan 20 (panel availability). 
    • SparkPix-S Phase II (full-size ASIC for sparsification engine), on-track
    • ePixHR V:  beamline test completed.
    • TXI Detectors (2Mp and 140kp based on ePixHR @5kHz) Wafer purchase order placed, delay to delivery of about 3 months, other things likely to slip as well.
    • ePixUHR (130nm TSV structure to reach 100kHz), CDR completed, PEC approved start, project underway.
    • ePix100 integration into LCLS-II DAQ, software and firmware work underway.  cpo has etch9.
  • Production:
    • spare ePix10k modules (0.5 & 1mm) Module order in work, new sensor order delayed.  First batch of no-ghost received, now packaging and wirebonding.
    • Approved 3d copy of ePix10k2m: underway, November delivery (may slip due to module delay)
    • Approved spare quads for MEC: delivered, in test.
    • Proposed in-air 2m/1mm project plan submitted to OIP.
    • Proposed UED detector upgrade, planning in work.
    • Proposed ePix10k4m (concept)
  • RIXS-CCD/cooler test and verification:  Second unit in test.  Working on test report, and review with NEH2.2.
  • HiZ collaboration tests: Ge and CZT beamtime completed, analysis in work (plan?).  Lab tests ongoing.
  • Outreach for R&D support (SparkPix-ED, SparkPix Delta).
  • SBIR effort for UXI not funded.

• Group priorities review:
  • Testing
    • Develop workable version of 'standard' cal script, test on 10k small, log in tracker.
    • Air-scatter CompEnOn study to refine timing.
    • Acceptance test new quads
    • Test second RIXS-CCD
  • Analysis
    • Gather new data to support calibration constant development (air-0scatter, FoLo, ??)
  • Documentation
    • Complete on-line travellers for Mp detectors

    • Hi-Z test prep

      • Get water and power completed in mech chase
    • Marietta interlocks for Kimball.

Actions:

Covid bloom scarceness...any issues or questions?  ~70 cases since winter closure began (compared with ~40 previous).  Campus >1k cases.  Pls use health check to let lab know if you test positive outside of color tests.

Opportunity to focus on lagging priorities:  Marietta/Kimball, water/power, RIXS-CCD data analysis/reporting, beamtime data analysis, vac test chamber?

mgmt mtg included triennial review highlights....including minor shout out to detector department

LDAC report received.  Generally positive, cautions about Hi-Z options, other items.  working though it now.

KN:

• No timing in ASC...probably due to power issues in NEH.
• Rayonix shipped.
• Hunting for ePix small vac hardware....some parts missing.

PH:

• HR beamtime lessons learned on Friday
• HR test overall quite successful
• Working on input for LDAC talks
• UXI IH put in for Run20....could let us offer UXI for user experiments??

#CH:

• Christmas tree setup for Ge
• Flex cable may be too short....will check today.
• HR camera back to TID.
• Boards being modified for HV CZT
• NYC 10/14-20.

#RA:

• Need mtg for acceptance test planning (Friday)

BN:

• Looking at FoLo data, still tryng to parse/understand
• Went through fluorescence process.
• Min/max stitching.
• Run cal on new ePix firmware.
• Grafana setup to alert Slack channel.
• Made updates to detector website, in work.
• Working with PH on porting PyRoot to Python.

CK:

• Setting up vac components for RIXS-CCD.
• Trying to get cables complete for CSPD/CXI
• Trying to move water/power effort in chase.
