About the Instructor - Mark Rivers, ASYN EPICS Class, August 26-27, 2010
Mark Rivers is a Senior Scientist with the Center for Advanced Radiation Sources and the Department of Geophysical Sciences at the University of Chicago. Following his PhD at the University of California at Berkeley he worked for 10 years developing and applying an x-ray microprobe at the National Synchrotron Light Source at Brookhaven National Laboratory.
In 1993 he moved to Chicago to develop and co-manage the GeoSoilEnviroCARS beamlines at the Advanced Photon Source. He has been actively involved in EPICS and synApps developments since 1993. He is currently responsible for the asyn, areaDetector, camac, dac128V, dxp, ip330, ipUnidig, modbus, and quadEM synApps modules.
His scientific interests include computed x-ray microtomography and fluorescence microprobe experiments.
