The following is a consolidated report of our work towards the slac project
A) The progress during October (first and second week)
- An in house review committee had identified a set of 9 students who are eligible and interested in working with semantic web and android project.
- Two teams are formed (A group of 5 for android and 4 for semantic web)
- Planned meeting and brainstorming session are carried out twice a week.
- In the first session the concepts of semantic web and android were understood. A thorough understanding of project “pingER” was undertaken. pingER monitor and collect network data and put it to use. One of the applications of pingER is to collect data on network traffic and then correlate the data.
- Knowledge of RDF triples and their benefits of representing as RDF triples on the semantic web was discussed.
- The data set was downloaded for a specific time period and the attributes and format was identified .Attributes are:- source_host_name source_host_addr destination_host_name destination_host_addr size unix_epoch_time sent, rcvd min avg max seq_rcv(i=1,rcvd=10), rtt_rcv(i=1,rcvd=10)
- Some of the areas identified to work with the dataset are:-
- Converting to RDF triples.
- Designing a schema for the data.
- Big Data processing using Hadoop
- Dealing with the issue in RDF that when the node changes its IP address it is recorded as a new entry not having any correlation to its previous entry.
- Measurements
- Data mining techniques for to find interesting pattern (Clustering, Outlier Analysis, Association).
The various team members have decided to proceed with the following subtopics:-
- Jahin Majumdar- Correlation and Association of Data.
- Anwesha Mal-Clustering and Dealing with how to correlate a new node’s IP address with its old one rather than storing it as two separate unrelated entities.
- Damini Singh- Data mining using Hadoop and Outlier Analysis
- Aneesh Devasthale- XML schema for the data and Uniform Data Storage.
B)The progress during October (third and fourth week)
- Five students had worked on slac topic, with their understanding they have prepared a report for your perusal and further guidance
- The report is enclosed as an attachement.
C) Answers for the queries :-
