This serves as a guide for moving the Jungfrau detector off and onto the DSA location.


NOTE: It is good practice to check that vacuum levels are at atmospheric conditions (760 torr) prior to disconnecting flanges. This should be checked on the control screens and manual gauges.

  1. Disconnect both 14" flanges on each end of the Jungfrau. The screws will act as guide posts for pulling back the bellows. Note: There were interference issues with the Optique Peter, on the top 4 screws of the flange, located in the +z direction. 
  2. Slowly pull back the bellows and secure the 3 handles onto the lead screws and foil off all vacuum side components. This requires a minimum effort of 2 people.

                                                                                                             

3. Physically ensure the detector is clear of the gate valve by moving it in the (+z)-direction. Secure the temporary detector cover by zip tying the cover to the bellow handles.

Note: Make sure the mechanical lock(between the detector stand and SC2 chamber) for the gate valve is in place. Keep hands and tools clear of the gate valve zone.

Crane preparation for the 14" flange+stand:

  1. Remove all 4 bolts securing the stand to the platform. Note: Consult the CXI crane book for the most current lift plan and check for completion of the daily crane inspection.

                                                                                                             

Removal of the 2 Turbos:

  1. Remove the flange sitting on top of the 2 turbos to gain access to the bracket holder port. This secures the umbilical cord located inside the Jungfrau.  

                                         

2. 3 silver plated bolts are removed to disengage the bracket holding the umbilical cord. These are no longer capture and release screws. Make sure the foreline is disconnected and all other cables are removed prior to craning. Note: Consult the CXI crane book for the most current lift plan for removing the turbos and check for completion of the daily crane inspection.

                                                                                                               


Removal of the attenuator stick:

Preparing to move the detector off the beamline:

  1. Secure the 80/20 U-Frame bracket to the blue cart and prepare the detector by ensuring all cables and necessary lines(ie waterlines) are disconnected. Communicate with the detector group, as necessary for shutting down the Jungfrau.This was created to make space for the cage(containing cables) sitting under the Jungfrau detector.

2. Crane the detector according to the CXI Lift Plan. Secure the detector using clamps as shown in the image.

                                                       

3. Prepare for internal inspection of the detector by adding further protection to the face of the detector and pushing the bracket arm for easier access to the internal structure.

                                                                                 

Note: The face of the detector consists of a thin film of mylar that is easily scratched. A minimum effort of 2 people is highly recommended.

This is done by carefully cutting the zip ties and removing the temporary shielding. The 3 screws going through the face of the detector shielding into the can are removed, as shown in image 16. The firm shield is placed and secured with 3 in-vacuum screws.

4. Carefully remove the kapton taped used to secure the metal sheet.

Note: This metal sheet is used to reduce friction between the bellows(containing the internal water cooling lines) and the frame of the detector.


5. IMPORTANT: This part of the detector is extremely sensitive. A bag is placed over the lens to act as a protective barrier. If the lens is accidentally bumped, please notify any of the lead instrument scientists.

6. Prepare for disconnecting the waterlines by conducting a water purge using the forced air hookup. Turn off the water chiller unit connected to the waterlines contained in the internal bellows. Inlet and outlet lines on the water chiller unit are disconnected and placed in a bin to hold the purged liquid. Wait ~10 minutes to allow all the liquid to pass.


Secure the breadboard to the face of the shield using 1/4"-20 prior to craning. This will act as a base for the detector can.

Prepare the cart for removal of the detector can.
