LCLS Help System Meeting Notes 7/13/2010, 11.30 am
Attendees: Ernest Denys, Teresa Downey, Jingchen Zhou, Ken Brobeck, Ginger DeContreras, Yuhua Liu, Imre Kabai, Arash Alavi, Antonio Ceseracciu, Mayank Malik
The purpose of this meeting was to address an e-mail sent by Teresa Downey informing Controls of OCIO's vision of "creating more highly-available central services instead of managing distributed servers".
Yuhua stated OCIO's mission of delivering central services that meet the requirements of the entire laboratory, with the ultimate goal of doing the right thing for the laboratory. Imre discussed OCIO infrastructure upgrades that would assure high server reliability.
Jingchen explained the need for a private network (LCLSDMZ) in order to comply with DOE's security requirements, which cannot be achieved with a centralized system. He also emphasized Controls' deadline of August 31 to deliver this application.
Yuhua requested for some time for his team to review other solutions for this project. Jingchen agreed that Yuhua should discuss with his team and requested that Controls be given commitment to this project by Thursday, July 15.
