SLAC IT is removing bastion hosts running an end of life operating system from the border router access list on August 28th, 2024. A list of bastion hosts that will remain accessible from inside SLAC but not from outside SLAC is at the end of this message.

3. If you are accustomed to ssh centos7.slac.stanford.edu, you will have to change to
(jump|rocky8|rocky9).slac.stanford.edu
For example,
ssh rocky9.slac.stanford.edu
However, these nodes now require a SLAC Windows account and multifactor authentication.

A detailed description of the services being retired and a timeline is provided here: Retiring PCDS offline data system

All bastion hosts running an EOL OS will be removed from the SSH Exception policy on Aug 28th 2024

The Bastion Hosts will be removed from the border router access list, but will remain accessible from inside SLAC.

If you have useful tools or data in your AFS home area, we suggest you use git to transfer code. To selectively copy data, notes, scripts from your AFS home area to S3DF:
ssh s3dflogin.slac.stanford.edu
From your home area:
scp -r <myusername>@rocky9.slac.stanford.edu:~<myusername>/.  ./afs_copy/

This will create a directory called afs_copy that contains a copy of your AFS home directory.
