Current primary objectives:

  1. Understand the root cause for the non-linearity (checker mark) observed for the ePix10k small detectors (on hold for beamtime);
  2. Develop the backplane pulsing system;
  3. Investigate the relative gain ratios for the ePix10k2M to understand the effect of applying per pixel gains to correct the switched gain tiger-teeth pattern (ties into the work with the Berkley grup);
  4. Effect of increasing the ACQ/R0 windows, and the CompEnOn window length, on the tiger-teeth pattern;
  5. Develop and apply Gabriel's calibration method for the LCLS detectors;

 Topics to discuss during the meeting (progress):

  1. Preparation for beamtime:
    1. Our final calibration beamtime shift will occur at MFX on July 21. We have been asked to specify additional beamtimes we want in order to:
      1. Investigate the checker mark effect and 2M quad problems; Ideally, the week of July 10 since it will allow us to use July 21 to calibrate the detectors that do not have valid data from December;
      2. ePixHR XPP/MFX beamtime; considerations should be when we can run at MFX as opposed to XPP (Philip), and when v4 of the ASIC is available as opposed to v2 (Dionisio);
    2. The schedule for selecting the beamtime can be found here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/11j0GYtjeaJufpbUQCSr6ex3L9Tj9WDfTVFtj-CYrUeU/edit#gid=1023758477&range=A1
  2. Progress for the past week:
    1. Progress in getting the pulser system up and running at ASC - Xilinx cards have arrived;
    2. Relative gain ratios;
    3. ACQ window increase testing;
    4. Gabriel's calibration method;
    5. Filling out the timesheets;
    6. any other business;
  3. Initial ePixM test plan for the non-back-thinned and back-thinned prototypes. Test plan to be discussed can be found here: 1.4.8. Performance evaluation

Meeting notes:

  • What beamtimes to request was extensively discussed and the following was suggested:
    • Request 2 shifts in the week of the 10th. Shift 1 aims to make the necessary measurements to check the checker mark effect (timing scan, and the linearity scans at the different data points; for both the 2M and the small). The second shift is primarly in case something goes wrong. We will ask Sebastien if we can request this shift and cancel it if all goes well the first beamtime. Additionally, an alternative use of shift 2 would be to evaluate the non-ghosting 10ka ASIC. We need to find out if it is possible to create a prototype in time (Conny talk to Chris Kenney);
    • For the ePixHR testing we are opting for the MFX station. We should be able to run here within a month. Also, we will try and have the v4 ASIC prototype available for this beamtime (Conny talk to Chris Kenney). WE are going to request 3 shifts: shift 1: Aug. 29; shift 2+3: 14+15 Sept.). The backup if we cant get the v4 ASIC prototype done on time is to use the v2 ASIC prototype.
