To update the NODEDETAILS database directly with SQLPlus, the Oracle SQL interpreter, log onto a SLAC Taylored host. Set the ORACLE_HOME environment variable to /usr/oracle, e.g. setenv ORACLE_HOME /usr/oracle (csh) or export ORACLE_HOME=/usr/oracle (sh/bash/etc.).
Get the Guthrie NODEDETAILS IEPM password from escrow (see man escrow), then run sqlplus from the command prompt.

The sqlplus command line is followed with the database username, currently iepm, an at sign, and then the database connect string, currently slacprod.
SQL statements can then be entered at the SQL> prompt. When finished with a session, use commit; to commit your changes to the database, as Oracle does all work inside a transaction by default, and use exit; to leave SQLPlus.
