Some notes on tasks to tackle before sending the full power beam into the tunnel.

Also some ideas on first tests for when we ramp up the laser.

Before full power operation

  • Check permanent and variable filtering (flippies) for cameras in laser room – Laser cameras and alignment references
  • Check permanent and variable filtering (flippies) for cameras in tunnel – Laser cameras and alignment references
  • Determine safe set of motor positions for everything in the PB – Motor positions
  • Fix hole size for laser shutter enclosures
  • Write up procedure/check list
  • Measure change in collimation as function of pump delay (SAGA attenuation?)? – or come up with strategy to enable slow ramp up of energy without RP attenuator

During ramp up

  • Attenuate laser and gradually ramp up
  • Check light levels on all cameras, look out for abnormalities that indicate damage
  • Check vacuum levels as beam is dumped on compressor block
  • Check vacuum levels as beam is dumped on laser beam dump in PB
  • Check for damage, signs of ablation etc. around compressor block and laser beam dump in PB
  • Check if scaling on laser diagnostics matches expected energy scaling (for on-shot energy measurement)

After initial ramp up

  • Check optics and cameras for damage
