Before requesting Confluence access or a SLAC computing account you must be registered as a member of the collaboration.  Register here.

Then  get the additional accounts you need

How to get access to Confluence only

Confluence is widely used by the CDMS collaboration, so if you are working on the experiment you need access to Confluence.  If you don't plan to analyze data, you can get access to Confluence via a SLAC cloud account.  

1. Before requesting a Confluence account, you must be a registered member of the CDMS Collaboration. The registration page is linked  here .
2. After the registration is complete, go to the Confluence sign-up form
   • Sign up for the CDMS group (make sure that you specify the "CDMS" group, not "CDMS SLAC")

How to get a SLAC computer account and get access to Confluence

You should request a SLAC computing account if you plan to analyze any SuperCDMS data.  To get access to Confluence, you will need have your SLAC computer account linked to Confluence (see Step 6 below).  Once your SLAC computing account and Confluence accounts are linked, the same password will give you access to both.

1. Before requesting a SLAC username and account, you must be a registered member of the CDMS Collaboration.  The registration page is linked here.

2. Register with SLUO (SLAC Users Organization)

   To register, fill in the form located at https://oraweb4.slac.stanford.edu/apex/epnprod/f?p=134.  If you would like more information on SLUO, see their page here.

    SLUO form details

   • Experiment you will be working on: select CDMS
   • SLAC Group/Department: "FPD: SuperCryo Dark Matter Search"
   • Spokesperson/Reference Person: Richard Partridge
   • Time spent at SLAC:   Meaning "How much time do you plan to spend physically at SLAC?" and generally the answer is <10%, unless you have a specific role in the collaboration that requires your presence at SLAC for long periods. 

3. When the registration is complete you will receive a SLAC ID (SID) number that is needed for requesting a computer account.  
   Please disregard the email instructions on the top of the SLAC-account request form sent to you by SLUO. It contains a protected link. 
   INSTEAD, fill out this computer account request form and send the form to the CDMS computer czar, Cartaro, or the SLAC supervisor, R. Partridge. If you do not receive feedback within 2-3 working days please contact Tina or Richard.

    SLAC computing form details

   • Requestor information: leave blank
   • SID #: This is found in the e-mail confirming the creation of your SLUO account (see above)
   • New Account Type: request both Unix and Windows accounts
   • SLAC e-mailbox: It is really your choice but whatever you choose be sure to read emails from SLAC. If you work primarily at another institution, you can select None; you can still receive e-mails at USERNAME@slac.stanford.edu, they will simply be forwarded to your primary e-mail account; otherwise, MS Exchange or Unix should probably be selected on the basis of your preferred e-mail client.
   • Requested User ID: This can be anything, but generally some combination of your last name and possibly your first name or initial would be best – this will make it easier for other users to identify who you actually are from files that you create or edit
   • Signature: No signature is needed. You will electronically sign later in the process.
   • Authorization: leave blank

   Follow directions for changing the default password(s) as soon as possible.

4. Move on to  Working with SLAC Computing Systems (confluence access required - see Step 6) to test out your new account.

5. You should have completed  Cyber Security Basics training at the moment of SLUO registration. If that is not the case you'll have 5 days to complete it once your accounts are activated. You will also need to take periodic cyber security refresher courses. Email notifications will be sent to you as reminder. Failing to take the training when due will result in the account locking, pending completion of the course.

6. Once you have your SLAC computer account, you still need to get access to the CDMS Confluence space.  Send an e-mail to Tina or confluence-admin@slac.stanford.edu asking for access to the CDMS group space on Confluence.

How to get a Nero account

Our git repositories are hosted on Nero, one of three computers at SUF (Stanford Underground Facility) maintained by Steve Yellin.  You should get an account on Nero if you plan to work with SuperCDMS software.

To get an account on the SUF cluster,

1. you should first register as member of the CDMS Collaboration   here  
2. and then email Steve Yellin (see the SuperCDMS address book for his email) with your preferred username.

How to get a SNOLAB account

Contact: Silvia Scorza 

If your supervisor has a SNOLAB account → Please ask them to fill in the new user form https://www.snolab.ca/orbeon/fr/ComputingSupport/NewSNOLABUserAccount/new.

If otherwise, send an email to Silvia (silvia.scorza@snolab.ca).

Email subject: "SNOLAB New User Account"
Please include:

• Details about your supervisor: Name, Telephone and email
• What VPN connection you would need - CUTE and/or SuperCDMS
  
  

The account creation is not immediate. It needs to be approved by SNOLAB-IT and might take up to 5 working days according to their workload. 

For Supervisor with a SNOLAB account filling the new user form:
Please make sure to tick "VPN-CUTE", "VPN-SCDSM" and "CUTE" and "SuperCDMS" in the collaboration name.

User will need to install a VPN package on your computer to be able to access the network. The instructions for how to do this can be found on the SNOLAB Sharepoint site that you can access only if you have a SNOLAB account
