NCSA / FNAL to LIneA:

  • The Dark Energy Survey (DES) project will last 5 years, second half of 2012 generating 500TB/yr.

  • Data will be moved from CTIO to NCSA and Fermilab.
  • LIneA will hold processed data from NCSA and FNAL. Estimated: 63TB/yr.
  • Tests will be scheduled to define if transfer will be from NCSA or FNAL to LIneA.
  • Transfers:
    • NCSA host: 141.142.234.152 (desar.cosmology.illinois.edu). In case of transfers using GridFTP, can be a different host.
    • LIneA host: 186.232.60.129.
  • Tools:
    • FTP and wget transferring ~100 files simultaneously. Transfer rate reached: ~100-200Mbps
    • DESDM is planning to start using GridFTP.
