Goal

A jamboree at SLAC to re-introduce the Science Directorates and Computing Division with the goal of creating our technology roadmap and enhancing the sharing of expertise at the Lab.

Planning for the workshop

Dates: 20-21 June 2011

Location: ROB meeting rooms

    Goals

    • get the big picture of where Scientific Computing needs to go
    • expose the Directorates and CD to each other's skills and needs

    Outcomes

    • concepts and templates for computing management plans to be assembled into an overall roadmap 
    • 2 days
    • directorates present their science/computing
      • what technologies/tools they are and envisage needing
    • interactive
      • plenty of discussion time
      • something like posters or booths to draw people together to talk
      • panels, group breakout sessions?
    • keynote lecture (Todd Martinez?)
    • organised by topics and common themes
      • some mix of informative talks
      • panel discussions with leader for each theme. Perhaps they are the session chairs.
    • try flash talks session? (5 min strict-limit advertising)
    • how to organise the closing sessions to get the desired output/directions going?
    • meetings in ROB Redwood rooms
    • need a poster
    • refreshments
    • real website?
    • registration, name badges?
