Keeping organized the devices in a hutch allows to provide a more efficient support service, however, there are some devices with a non-clear use status. Looking into this issue PCDS-IT team decided to check in each hutch to understand the real status of those devices. After inspecting in detail those devices PCDS-IT team started the process of gathering in detail all the information from them with the objective of removing from the system those devices are not existing or are no longer needed.

This process involves the participation of the POCs, SEAs, instrument leads, and the PCDS-IT team to ensure that the information is coherent to proceed with the final step of removing the devices from the system. At the moment, the PCDS-IT team has informed the list of those devices per hutch with a non-clear status to each POCs, SEAs, and instrument leads in each hutch and they are waiting for feedback before the last step.

Remote Operations Hardware Maintenance Schedule

Although LCLS has devices for making remote operations more efficient, they have not been used so often. Each hutch counts with a Realwear HMT-1 headset and the Double3. On the one hand, the Realwear HMT-1 headset can be used for hands-free video conferencing or taking pictures/recording videos. On the other hand, Double3 is a telepresence robot with video conferencing and remote driving capabilities. Due to the lack of support for these devices people in the hutches are not very interested in using these technologies. 

Thanks to Alex Wallace’s interest in the continued support of these devices, PCDS-IT is taking the lead in their continued support of them. This month of April, the PCDS-IT group took the lead in supporting the Realwear HMT-1 headsets and Double3 by auditing to verify the status of the devices in all hutches. Follow to this audit, there will be training on this technology for each POCs, SEAs, and instrument leads in each hutch. On top of that, PCDS-IT will continuously check on the status of these devices to ensure their functionality of them at any time.
