This will not only make our operations more robust as issues can be discovered earlier, but also pave the way for us to obtain real metrics on device reliability and availability.

Experiment State Tracker

One outcome of an LCLS upper-MGMT retreat in December 2022 was the determination that we need more data on how beamtime is spent. Having these metrics will begin to give us an understanding of the impact of various changes we might make to operating procedures, software, hardware, beamline configurations, etc. etc. Basically everything...

It should be noted that this system is a very high-level measurement of a very complex system. Our expectation is to see some correlation of beamtime spending changes, but how we will determine a cause is another matter. At the very least it is a start from which we can develop a more refined system health measurement.

The first pass at the state-tracker was assembled by Ken Lauer and Zach Lentz. Further development is owned by Mike Browne with Sebastien Boutet as the stakeholder. If you have any suggestions for features or changes to the state tracker please reach out to Sebastien. If you notice any bugs or issues with the tracker please issue a Jira ticket and let your PoC know.Zachary L Lentz Michael Browne
