The following interactive compute login pools are rebooted on the first Sunday of each month, staggered between 104:00pm 00 AM - 104:30pm 30 AM Pacific Time.

This facilitates This is to facilitate the patching and activation of updated kernels, glibc, and other shared libraries.   This is required by cyber security. The reboots are staggered throughout that 30 minute period.  It is also used for any recommended server software maintenance. Periodic reboots to enable security patches are required by SLAC Cyber Security and Department of Energy. A 'wall' message is sent to every terminal starting 10 minutes prior to the reboot.

The monthly reboot schedule was announced to the unixusers-l@slac.stanford.edu email list on February 6, 2020 and March 10, 2020.

The iris and flora login pools are rebooted weekly, very early Sunday mornings.
