Gotchas - things to watch out for

1. Remember to reset/re-initialize the PDUs after switching a sector without IPL or reboot

2. Remember to reboot soft klystron ioc to get CAS

3. Remember to set SECTSBST PV to "NO" for any klystron that does not use the shared subbooster

 

SW Test Plan: Switch LI20-LI30 CAMAC to EPICS

...

We would like to do this in 3 installments:

A. Switch over three over one sector whose klystrons are active on the beam, preferrably
near the end of the Linac (say LI26-LI28). 3 . 2 hours

B. If A goes well, at least 21-3 2 days later, switch over LI20, LI29, LI26-LI30.  3 4 hours

C. If B goes well, at least 2 2 or more days later, switch over remaining sectors LI21-LI25. 3 hourshour

2. Systems Affected:

SCP Control of Sectors 20-30 Klystrons and other CAMAC devices

e. Restart MDL loop (need to add this to script) 

f. Test!

g. If leaving a sector in EPICS control, enable alarms for that sector's CAMAC IOC. 

10. Backout plan:

a. For each sector, go to lclshome > LI**/Network > More CAMAC... >
Switch to SCP Control

Detailed description of switching to SCP control:

  • Switch back to SCP control using remote switch (and later flip local switch
    to MBCD mode).
  • Stop ioc-li**-cv01 (switch back to alternate ports)

Leave sioc-sys0-cv01, sioc-sys0-cv02, sioc-sys0-cv03 running.

Boot sioc-li**-ky00 with non-test version

  • Reconfigure gateway so that LI** PVs are again served by SLC.
  • Verify that PDUs are working from SCP control, may need to reset PDUs from
    SCP reboot LI** micro. IPL all LI** PIOPs from SCP.
  • Verify that SCP control is restored and status is reading properly from EPICS
    controls.
  • Restart klystron CUD matlab process
  • Set AIDA klystron service to SLC mode
  • Restart MDL loop (need to add this to script)
  • If backing out in LI20, HSTA ON LI20 PDU 3 and 4, then reboot LI20 micro
