Space Allocation - Cavern Size

Need to hold cavern size iteration in order to allow RRL design to continue.  Justin provided history of layout iterations.  Layout 2, January 2022: Accommodation of stay-clear and design development resulted in 8' N-S extension.  Layout 3, June 2022:  Minor adjustment of Layout 2.  Layout 4 (current): refinement of design and removal of crane, includes spaces for cleanroom air returns.  MM: LRU size?  Based on NIF cart.  MM: Access to compressor vessel may be more accessible during planned downtimes.  BW: Has 3rd dimension been considered?  Stack SP diagnostic table?  TS: Need design development with Diagnostics Table and Beam Dump.  Air plenums - CH:  can be smaller, but something has to be there, e.g. thinner double wall plenum.  Need iteration with Arup.  MM: Being actively worked on between CH and CR.  Action is with CH as soon as they have the green light to work with Arup again.  T&H - in scope.  MM: What does team propose?  JG - layout/acess issues.  Lack of room for beam transport and associated HW on west wall.  MM: new info from Arup - west growth may be possible, but significant add to TPC.  Scope reduction may ben necessary.  TS: Concern that there is currently no space to spare.  BW: Not a new problem - same challenges with LCLS and FEH.  MM: Main concern is west wall, including beam dump.  BW:  Need to push on plenum, so everything can be pushed to east, solving west wall problem
TopicsNotes
Laser Rooms

MM: Would like to include all possible equipment in model.  BW: Beware of assuming large sizes due to low maturity level of some designs.  EH: base Amica + footprint is going to be a little larger.  Space needed for ++ is going to be significantly larger.  MM: Need to look at conceptual volume of how much space needed for multi kJ upgrade.  SY: Need to take another look at trombone.  MM:  Need to consider stacking components as well as larger cavern.  TS:  Concerned with dump (1-2 week timeframe) and compressing/shrinking (3-4 week timeframe).  MM:  Tom, Kai, Steven, Corey, Bill to discuss beam dump.  Steven to coordinate meeting for next week after discussing with Tom.  MM: Consider alternate dump location/position (e.g. within beam pipe?). MM: Revisit orientation/configuration of RR laser?  Are assumptions still correct?  Tom will revisit and be ready for discussion in a week.

TAXCH:  Biggest concerns are equivalent plan diagnostic, Visar (extent that is on vs. off project).  MM:  Need discussion with E. Cunningham and E. Galtier, Bill White, Corey.  CH:  Supporting infrastructure is also a big concern (e.g. tables, storage, gas bottles, chillers).  Bahram is working on including auxiliary equipment.
ControlsCH:  Controls has submitted all requests, but placement currently on hold with cavern size changes.  Corey will revisit.  Controls contact for racks is Mitchell Cabral.
Conventional FacilitiesCH:  Circulatory system in model.  Few outstanding big problems – largest is air returns in RR Laser Hall.  TAX and Mezzanine air returns are problematic also.  Walls are moving in on technical systems.  Final designs will be designed by another vendor.  GD:  We should include spatial constraints in DGPS - drawings and specifications.  Need to follow up on how to include in DGPS.  TS:  Air handler?
InstallationCH:  Compressor - will need to be transported to space during co-occupancy, so cleanliness requirements may not be compatible with concrete pour.  TS:  Is space compatible with bringing in Amica?  CH:  Maintaining stay-clear aisle even if brought in as one piece.
Next StepsCH:  Brice is pushing on model.  Discussion on MondayCavern Size.
