From the DOS prompt ran vsvars32.bat, defined ROOTSYS to point to the root directory containing the source code and added Python to the path as well as %ROOTSYS%/lib and %ROOTSYS%/bin. The %ROOTSYS%\bin directory must be first in the path to get the nmake build of root's test routines to work.
Updated the LIB env variable to include %ROOTSYS\lib
