Operation

!!! Remember to turn the fan on the FEB. !!!

Turn on the power to the FEB  

Instructions on how to power the FEB using MPOD with EPICS

FEB Power using Keithley: AVDDP: 5.5V, AVDDN: 5.5V, DVDD: 5.5V and flange power 5.5V (parallel to DVDD).

The MPOD web GUI is at ppa-mpod1.slac.stanford.edu (visible on SLAC internal network only).

MPOD power settings (max current, trip current, trip behavior, sense behavior) are set by ./mpod/setDefaults.py. You should not need to run this unless you need to change the settings.

Example SNMP commands for switching on/off channels or the crate are in mpod/on.sh and mpod/off.sh.

MPOD will not turn on unless the interlock is plugged in (DB9 on MPOD controller at the left of the crate), turned on (24 V on BK power supply next to chiller), and not tripped (red LED on flow switch = switch is powered and flow is above trip point).

Reloading PGP card drivers

Typically after a reboot we need to reload the pgp card driver. 

$ cd /u1/pgpcard/software/driver_old/

$ ./pgpcard_load

OLD: Take a calibration run with expert SVT GUI

Start the DAQ:

$ cd cd /u1/software/software_new

$ source setup_env.csh

$ ./bin/frontEndTestGui

Click <read status> and make sure no error is seen. If so, check that the FEB is powered correctly.

Make sure the AxiXadc temperature is ok (50-60C).

Configure with config/FrontEndBoardConfigC01.xml

Click <read status> and check that more registers are found.

Turn on power to hybrids (see below)

Do a hard reset under commands/FebCore/HybridHardReset (current on AVDDP should drop ~100mA).

Click <Write config>.

Do a soft reset under commands/FebCore/HybridSoftReset.

Check that the hybrid currents measured are ok. Sync status for each channel can be seen in register RceCore/DataPath[x]/Synced, 1xf for powered channels.

Manual control

In the DAQ GUI: go to config and turn on power to hybrids using Register: HybridXPwrEn (X=0,1,2,3).

Click <Write config>.  Check that it worked by reading status and voltages/currents.
