The MM to SM conversion box is required to operate several detectors from the ePix, and SparkPix families. The main reason it the need to use a high density transceivers in the detectors heads that only operate in MM which is not compatible with LCLS-II DAQ that only operates in SM.

The box in its firs revision performed exactly that, but while in operation the team realized the burden to add the timing fibers which required external break out cable. Revision C01 of the board and chassis will include the breakout in the boards removing the need for external components.
