Minutes of ECal offline software meeting at JLab, 19/11/2013

---Summary---

Discussion focussed on assignment of tasks on software list, grouped under 6 subheadings; Simulation, Reconstruction, Monitoring, Calibration, Trigger Studies, Online Software.  Leaving names off this document, but assignment of tasks has been started on the task list page (ECal Software tasks)

---Simulation---

No one present disagrees with the assertion that the GEANT4 simulation of the ECal is more-or-less complete, and only requires minor adjustments to account for changes in geometry since the test run (for example, the inclusion of the LED monitoring system)

Digitization and readout simulations; pre-amp configurations now decided and studies can commence

---Reconstruction---

Basic clustering should be straightforward, and not particularly different to generic clustering algorithms.

The issues that should be examined include cluster shapes, separation of nearby and overlapping clusters, position reconstruction and corrections (on e+, e- and gamma, should generate a large sample of these for development purposes), matching ECal with tracking

IC clustering should be applied to the ECal geometry as a cross-check of the clustering that will be developed

---Monitoring---

Software for light monitoring system is more or less in a position to be handed over to the slow controls group (ensure that the properties we need included in slow controls for the monitoring system is included in the list for the ECal)

---Calibration---

Machinery for track based calibration already available from test run, although with the new APDs other calibrations may render this less useful

Cosmic ray calibration should be prioritised to ensure availability for detector commissioning

---Trigger Studies---

Need to be sure we understand the operation of the trigger at the level of boards and crates. Exact level of detail to be decided.

---Online Software---

Should identify a trigger expert for online trigger monitoring

Next steps; Prioritize task list, find volunteers (ideally willing ones) for remaining tasks, propose tentative schedule in time for review
