******* June 5th, Thursday, update from Stepan

Dear all,

I am happy to inform that HPS chicane magnets are now installed in the
Hall-B downstream alcove.
Many thanks to the Hall-B engineering-technical team for the excellent
work. Great work!

Best, Stepan

ECal Installation and Survey - Raphael

From email 3 June 2014

********************************************************************

Hello,
Here is the plan we have right now, there is still few questions that are left in particular to know if the survey guys will be able to see the targets in this. Also we need to take reference point before hand on the ECal vacuum chamber, that needs to be worked out in little more details, how we do that. Overall the plans are clear and allow to move the ECal in and out relatively easily and get back to the initial position after the first installation.
 Installation plan:

  1. Fix rails and top frame

    1. Check parallelism before fixing

    2. Check movement without loading

    3. Fix blockers at the extremities (slightly ahead of final position on the magnet side for safety)

  2. Fix frame below the rails and first threaded rods

    1. Check the mobility of the system along the full length of the rails

    2. Check that distances for the rods match the one on the ECal (i.e. rods are parallel)

  3. Install top ECal

    1. Fix the position of the system

    2. Place two nuts on each rod at high level (second nut is needed for reference position in case of complete dismounting)

    3. Place Ecal below the rods

    4. Take the ECal up through the rods with crane

    5. Fix the ECal in up position with one nut on each rod then add two nuts per rods for later precision fixing

  4. Attach second level of threaded rods

    1. Rods must be in contact inside the connection part

  5. Install bottom ECal

    1. Place two nuts on each rods at a high level

    2. Place the ECal below the rods

    3. Take the Ecal up through the rods with crane

    4. Fix the ECal in bottom position with two nuts per rod

  6. Install ECal vacuum chamber

    1. Release blockers and push the ECal out of the way to its out position

    2. Block the ECal in the out position

  7. Precise positioning of top ECal

    1. Release rail blocker to place the ECal close to the vacuum flange (~mm)

    2. Lower the top ECal slowly (directly with the nuts)

    3. Stop when reaching the mark established on the vacuum chamber

    4. Check that the 4 holding nuts are in good contact

    5. Fix the two nuts below the holding nuts

  8. Precise positioning of bottom ECal

    1. Put the bottom ECal slowly in place(directly with the nuts)

    2. Stop when reaching the mark established before

    3. Check that the 4 holding nuts are in good contact

    4. Fix two nuts on top of the system

    5. Add a bottom nut to fix the holding nut

  9. Install all extra structure intended for rigidity of the system

  10. Survey

    Best regards,
