SVT Voltage control
  • Hovanes and Sergey got an MPOD crate from CLAS12 SVT for temporary use with 3 low voltage and 3 bias boards.
  • Hovanes started an IOC on clonioc2 server in the counting house. The IOC at this time has the bias voltages and FE LV channels.
  • The IOC is using the Hall D scheme (Nerses) for configuring the EPICS DB based on the MPOD chassis content and on a SQLite DB for detector hierarchy.
  • The mapping of the detector channels into the MPOD channels is arbitrary at this point. Pelle will create an Excel file with the correct mapping and send to Hovanes.
  • Bryan gave a presentation on his progress on the SVT voltage control GUIs.
    • Bryan crated an overview GUI for SVT voltages and the detail view for the voltage parameters for the bias voltages and FEC voltages.
    • Pelle asked Bryan to setup a button for group operations (at this point just ALL CHANNELS grouping, but in the future TOP and BOTTOM group operation might be needed).
  • Pelle reported that Ryan and himself will meet with an EPICS expert to discuss and start working on the DAQ CA server for voltages and the SVT temperatures.
  • Ani Simonyan started working on the alarm configuration for the SVT voltages.
  • Still unclear when would the right time be for Bryan to travel to SLAC to setup SVT voltage controls in EPICS.
Motor setup
  • Hovanes reported that it was decided to use a Newport XPS-Q8 motion controller for the HPS SVT motor control.
  • Most applications will not be affected much by this change with the exception of scans. Hall D is using these controller and the scan procedure will be developed together with Hall D folks.
  • Armen from JLab Fast Electronics group is working on the three SVT motor cables. He is ordering the cables and connectors.
  • Ani Simonyan (Yerevan) will start working on the scan software in April.
  • For now the other six motors will be using the Hall B standard scheme with OMS drivers. If we decide to move some of them to XPS, then we will use short adapter cables to connect them to XPS.
Chiller controls
  • Stepan ordered a chiller that will first be used for ECAL test, and later will be used for the SVT FEC cooling.
  • Since this chiller will also be in vacuum, it needs to be interlocked similar to the main SVT chiller (Pelle).
  • A bypass circuit with solenoid valves will need to be installed on the chiller for the interlock to be able to shut off the coolant flow.
  • A mass flow meter will need to be installed in the piping to be able to shutoff the power supplies when there is not sufficient flow of coolant.

Action items

  • Hovanes will implement the flange LV and hybrid LV channels in EPICS IOC and let Bryan know.
  • Ani will crate a preliminary version of the alarm configuration for SVT voltages.
  • Cables for the motors will be build at JLab and Hovanes will sent at least one of them to Takashi.
  • Pelle will check with SVT engineers about the bypass flow and the flow meter for the FEC chiller.
  • Hovanes, Stepan and F.-X. will stay in touch with JLab PSS group regarding the accelerator's FSD input for SVT interlocks and come up with a plan by the end of February. (from the previous meetings)
  • Pelle will find out when the SVT full test at SLAC will take place and let Bryan know by April , so that Bryan can make plans. (from previous meetings)
  • F-X. will send a drawing of where the beamline motors need to be for HPS 2015 so that Denny can start procuring and making motor cables and laying them in the Hall. (from previous meetings)
