- News.
Omar has released the 2015 bump hunt analysis note to the collaboration. - Thesis Plans Revisited .
Maurik reported:
Kyle will use the 2015 bump hunt data to explore how machine learning algorithms can improve trident selection
and summarize the posi hodoscope studies he’s done. Kyle will participate in the preparations of the next publication.
He hopes to graduate in the summer of 2018.
Bradley will conduct the vertex search in the 2016 data, continue running MC for HPS, and help with the next publications.
He hopes to graduate in Spring 2019.
Keith reported (after this meeting):
Sebouh will analyze the 2016 data for a bump hunt search and provide an analysis note which could be the basis of a future
publication. He hopes to graduate in late Spring, 2018.
John reported:
Matt Solt is continuing studies of using L1L2 and L2L2 combinations in the vertex search. He hopes to search for SIMPs in the 2016 data
and with others is exploring the feasibility of doing so. He will revert to further studies of the 2016 vertex search if the SIMP search
isn’t viable. He expects to graduate some time after the 2019 run and can help with the next HPS publication.
- EC Design Review.
Rafo presented the design of the hodoscope and reviewed the rationale for this upgrade.EC Design Review.pdfEC Design Review.pdf
Rafo noted in particular that the hodoscope could easily handle the rates even when it is moved comfortably inside the
ECal acceptance in y. He will look into shielding requirements for the PMTs in the magnet’s stray field. Tests with cosmic rays
will be included before installation, guaranteeing efficiency will be measured. He will check radiation hardness of the fibers, and whether particles traversing them will leave signals.
- Next Physics Publication.
Matt imagines the 2015 bump plus vertex paper will be submitted to PRD. It will be based on the latest recon (was 7 now 8).
It will not incorporate any major improvements in the analysis for the bump hunt, but will try to incorporate using L1L2 and L2L2 data collections
for the vertexing search. An analysis note should be ready in the summer of 2018 and a publication submitted before December 2018.
The analysis will be pushed by Omar (and Kyle?/Sebouh?) for the bump hunt, and Holly and Matt Graham (and Matt Solt?)for the vertex search
Plans for the 2016 data need to be developed. An outline of what needs to be done to prepare the final recon will help move things along.
Nathan and Matt agreed to formalize and detail 2015 and 2016 plans for a future EC meeting.
Respectfully submitted,
John
