SLAC is moving away from RHEL4 support (rapidly!).  John Bartelt has outlined a suggested path, where we are gradually weaned off glastlnx14.
glastlnx14 is our remaining build box with limited access to a number of Fermi users/developers as well as CMT and SCons RM.
This week glastlnx14 moved into the "Internet Free Zone" meaning it is now only accessible through an internal SLAC node.

  • Confirm that SCons RHEL4 builds are acceptable
  • Complete the RHEL5 validation using GR v20r3p4 - as soon as possible
    • Are system tests enough?
  • All users migrate to use RHEL4 SCons builds of GR and we turn off CMT builds for RHEL4 - as soon as possible
  • Limit users with access to glastlnx14 to those who truly will be debugging on RHEL4 as necessary.  Early July
  • Turn off all users other than batch access to glastlnx14 - hopefully late July/early August
    • Automated GR RHEL4 builds can continue through August - where we would intend to do so through the collab meeting
