Overview
HERA and HairA are two similar endstations, one meant for helium atmosphere and the other one in-air. They share the exact same controls, i.e:
- A mobile rack comprising
- host ioc-mfx-hera
- Moxa moxa-mfx-hera
- 4-channel dumb motor chassis
- Newport controller mcn-mfx-hera
- a smc100 controller
- 2 PI E-861 controllers
- 2 GigEs
The setup is relatively straightforward. See below for details
IOCs
All IOCs run on ioc-mfx-hera.
Motion
Dumb motor
Connections and cables are labelled.
Newport
All Newport connections are labelled. Make sure to power off the controller when plugging/unplugging stages.
The translation stage for the optical assembly goes to the smc100 controller.
PI E-861
MMC-100 and PR-32
In some experiments, a Micronix PR-32 rotation stage is borrowed from CXI.
Port 16 of the Moxa is configured for the MMC-100 controller.
In order for the stage to move by the right amount and have proper encoding, a little tuning is necessary. The resolution in particular is not quite what can be found online.
For the stage borrowed on 1/20/2022, the following parameters were used:
Parameter | Value |
---|---|
Feedback | Closed, Cleaner |
Encoder resolution | 0.000044 |
Closed loop DBD | 10 |
Timeout (s) | 1 |
Retry deadband | 0.1 |
Max retries | 3 |
Slip deadband | 0.5 |
Encoder type | Digital |
Encoder direction | Reverse |
