In general the IEPM-BW code runs trouble free.  There are network events and mistakes that people make when entering the specifications for the probes, plots, nodes, and monitoring hosts into the database that can cause problems.

Data Base Entry Errors

Plot Specifications

Note that there must be no field in the database monitoring and analysis specification tables that has any line feeds or carriage return in it. A common field for this mistake is the 'datatoanalyze' field in the TOOLSPECS and MONHOST tables, and the 'plotspec' field in the PLOTSPECS table.  When I think this is the problem, I fetch the fields from the table I think is having the problem and compare the contents of these fields. There is a very specific pattern to these fields.

Probe Specifications - TOOLSPECS Table

Common errors here are having a bad source or destination 'nodeid' and incorrect 'toolopts'. Again, to see these errors, select different TOOLSPECS entries and compare them. In the case of some probes, the order of the options matters.
