First thoughts on ideas on the "dashboard" or top level for the Pakistani PingER web site.

The centerpiece is a map of Pakistan (actually it is just a zoom in of the world PingER map) showing the PingER nodes with different shapes for the Monitors, Beacon and Monitored nodes. Clicking on the node will bring up information about the node: name of monitoring host, IP address, location, country, region, lat/long and site URL (e.g. clickable site's web site).

If it is a monitoring node this box will have tabs: pingtable.pl from this host (one tab to Pakistani hosts, one to all hosts); tab for on demand tracreoute to client; tab for on demand ping to client. The color of the monitoring host identifies its state. If data gathered successfully last night it is green, if not then yellow if its ping_data.pl web form is accessible, if neither then orange if it is pingable at the moment, red if it fails all those tests. The monitored or beacon hosts are colored green if they are pingable at the moment, otherwise they are colored red.

An alternative to showing colors to show the state of the hosts might be to be able to turn them on and off depending on their state (like the TULIP landmarks map at http://www.slac.stanford.edu/comp/net/wan-mon/viper/tulip_map.htm)
If you can come up with a way of selecting 2 hosts (at least one of which is a monitor), then enable showing between the hosts: on demand ping, on demand traceroute, Smokeping.
The page should also have easy access to table.pl for Pakistan, to http://www-iepm.slac.stanford.edu/tools/pingworld/ , the PingER site map (e.g. http://www-iepm.slac.stanford.edu/pinger/) it should have clickable logos for SLAC & SEECS. It should also have a brief discussion and/or links to PERN
