Go through all the non Disabled hosts in NODEDETAILS:
- Check if the host is pingable from SLAC. Add this information to NODEDETAILS (i.e. add a column to the database).
- Extend the NODEDETAILS user interface to provide read access to this data.
- Make sure that http://www-iepm.slac.stanford.edu/pinger/pingerworld/slaconly-nodes.cf, http://www-iepm.slac.stanford.edu/pinger/pingerworld/rss.xml, http://www-iepm.slac.stanford.edu/pinger/pinger.xml and the file at /afs/slac.stanford.edu/package/pinger/pinger2/share/pinger/pinger.xml are not changed.
- Extend http://www-iepm.slac.stanford.edu/pinger/sites-per-country.html to add this information i.e. summarizing the number of active hosts/country as in
- Algeria DZ (8(7)/1(1)) where the second level parenthesized numbers are the number of active hosts.
- Also add to the overall summary at the end.
Rather than actually pinging each host one could use http://www-wanmon.slac.stanford.edu/cgi-wrap/pingtable.pl?format=tsv&file=average_rtt&by=by-node&size=100&tick=daily&year=2010&month=10&day=23&from=EDU.SLAC.STANFORD.N3&to=WORLD&ex=none&only=all&dataset=hep&percentage=any to see if the host was pingable yesterday.
