Instructions (by Davide Caforio)

  1. Open the Para module (from the GEDI panel, click on Module->Para);
  2. Click on the "+" symbol alongside the datapoint type you want to
    archive;
  3. The name of the datapoint, together with a "mini folder" symbol, will
    appear;
  4. Click on the "+" symbol. If the datapoint is composed of only one
    element then right click on the datapoint name: a scroll-down menu will
    appear. Move the pointer to the item "Insert config" and, in the new
    scroll-down menu, select "Archive settings";
  5. An item "_archive" will appear under the datapoint name. Click on it;
  6. In the pop-up window select "Store original value", then click on the
    text field on the right and select "RDB-99) EVENT" (I assume you have the
    Oracle database connection setup and active). Depending on the type of
    data, you might want to apply a smoothing to the data archived in order to
    save disk space: if you select "Smoothing", a list of options will appear.
    Usually you will choose a "value dependent smoothing" and hence set the
    Deadband value, either on a percentage basis ("relative value") or an
    absolute step (0.5 V, 1 mbar etc.);
  7. Click on OK to accept the changes.
