LCLS HELP System Design Meeting, 29 June 2010, 11 am

Attendees: Ernest Denys, Teresa Downey, Jingchen Zhou, Ken Brobeck, Ginger DeContreras

Overview: The LCLS Control System is highly distributed and heterogeneous, with applications running in different environments, using different software tools, on different operating systems and different networks.  The goal of the LCLS Help System is to provide a centralized system with a common look and feel.

After extensive review of Confluence and SharePoint, Confluence was chosen for this system because of its simple rich text editing capabilities and ability to provide a user-friendly page organizational structure.

Scope:  Controls Software will provide development and production server hardware and setup.  Controls Software will also purchase a Confluence license for these servers.  SCCS will install, configure and manage Confluence and MySQL database on these servers, as well as Crowd SSO.

Deadlines:  The LCLS Control System will be available to MCC Operations by August 30, 2010.

Task List:

- KB to send ED desired hardware specifications.  ED to discuss with Arash Alavi whether it is adequate for MySQL database setup.

- TD and ED to send license information to GD.

- GD to send ED and TD Design Document

- GD to send ED Matlab Help Pages on MCC Wiki to see if information can be converted to Confluence

- ED to set up space on confluence-new server so that GD can start populating with HELP content
