TOPICS:

Discussed where the PAU master-offset interface might be useful.  Joe would like to be able to run feedbacks with offsets on State Setpoints - could be useful for the case where one might like to use the LTU feedback with offsets to handle 'jitter' introduced downstream of LTU,  before the undulator (since the undulator feedback will not be 120Hz).

Discussed that a PAU on the actuators is not required for feedback operation, it is a requirement for handling time-slot differences when feedback is off. (The PAU on the actuators became a part of the Fast Feedback project requirements back in April. ) To that end, the Actuator PAU needs to have a master-offset interface as well.

Discussed Kukhee's RF softIOC. It will need to change internally to work with the new L2 and L3 amps and phases, but it is important that it's interface with the physicists MATLAB apps does not change.

Discussed running non-120Hz transverse feedbacks on one timeslot only. No averaging of data from all timeslots since this would likely cause jumps in position and angle when rate-limiting below 120Hz. Joe says it would be useful to have an application that can read 120Hz BPM data and patterns, and calculate what the launch feedback would do if they had PAU magnets ...can help determine where additional 120Hz magnets would be useful. (installing a transverse feedback in a controller, running in 'COMPUTE' mode would do this...)

Discussed Commissioning. Will have to run at 60Hz until PAU offsets are determined manually (maybe good enough for FEL?), or the LTU and Longitudinal feedbacks are working at 120Hz. There is some work in determining the offsets manually, and they will need to be set on many inputs - physicists might want to automate this or write a matlab app. Needs some thought.

CONCLUSIONS:

  • We do not need to upgrade Laser, Gun, L0A, or L1X RF stations before April. (can be added later if needed)
  • Non-120Hz feedbacks will run on one timeslot, no averaging across timeslots
  • We will implement PAU control of L2 Phase & Amp, L3 Amp- we may include L3 Phase if it is an easy add-on
  • The Interface between Kuhkee's RF SoftIOC and MATLAB  applications will not change
  • Actuator will have a Master-offset interface for use outside of feedback
  • Controller will have a Master-offset interface for state setpoints for all 120Hz feedbacks. Offsets will apply by pattern.
  • All Offsets must be in ChannelWatcher or autosave
  • First priority feedbacks are Longitudinal and LTU Launch 120Hz feedbacks
  • No labels
