Commissioning Details

  • We have from 8am until 4pm daily. ROD is scheduled for Wednesday.
  • we will have the day shift for each of these days.  We must leave the machine in a good state at the end of each day for other work being done on the swing/owl shifts.  Monday especially by 4pm latest.
  • RF and magnets must be controllable at the end of our day shifts.
    • Debbie says the PAU can be turned off in the magnets, leaving them with the usual PV control, so we can try leaving the new software in.(test this early!)
    • Kukhee will be switching between old and new software daily, but will not have to reconfigure the switches (this must be tested on Monday too)

TOPICS

Status of subsystem for commissioning:

BPMs - undulator BPMs need test time with beam, which means we need beam to the undulator.

  • Till will begin using B34 test stand BPM for further testing of undulator-type BPM.  Needs the development modules up-to-date with production so that he can build his BPM software.

BLENs & BPMs - I'd like to run my Controller timing tests in production to evaluate performance - also needs beam so this will be later in the week

Debbie and Kristi - preparing magnet software for test beginning Monday

Kukhee has a few items to handle on Monday

  • update IN20 PAD/PAC software for easier switchover, and confirm
  • Confirm that new software will work with the current (private network for 2nd NICs) RF switch configuration
  • debugging laser feedback loop

Kukhee has not had time to implement BSA for RF in the new software.  We may need more test time before May 6 to allow Kukhee to get BSA going in the new RF software.

Controller IOC development - fortran compiler for RTEMS so that we can use the LAPACK and / or ATLAS
Any other issues?

Something I forgot in the meeting - I will be the CD next week while we are doing our testing

ACTION ITEMS

  • Qing - can boot her BLENs with latest software on Monday - needs checkout with beam if we want it to remain in production after 4pm
  • Till - can use an undulator BPM ioc in production for testing between 8am and 4pm - needs to be checked out with beam to leave it in production after 4pm
  • Till - email Sonya and me to say which undulator BPM ioc you are working with.
  • Ernest - update software modules in development so they are sync-ed with production ASAP
  • Diane and Kukhee- investigate issues with RF BSA and 60Hz beam - can we deliver a quality 60Hz beam with old software? With only 30Hz local loops?
  • Diane - find out if there are apps used for machine control/tuning  that rely on RF BSA
  • Luciano  - send a list to Till, of matrix operations we anticipate using, so that he can review/suggest a library, etc.
  • Diane - keep Till informed next week on beam availability
