Meeting with Dan Damiani, Clemens Prescher, Silke Nelson, Phil Hart, Suzanne Ali, Chris O'Grady on July 5, 2022
- cheap large (0.5m) medical detector $50k
- 2880x2880 15fps .15mm pixel size, 15.82MB per event
- 1 optical fiber (unknown protocol, requires vendor's frame grabber, pcie card)
- trigger is TTL BNC
- 67ms readout time
- internally detector always runs (10Hz synced to eu-xfel)
- trigger 10Hz
- windows dll (from the varex company), no timestamp on the data (just image data)
- non-certified windows driver
- no linux (in beta)
- website? send talk?
- manual: https://jira.slac.stanford.edu/login.jsp?permissionViolation=true&os_destination=%2Fbrowse%2FLCLSECSD-899&page_caps=&user_role=
- calibration? no calibration.
- looked for detector geometrical distortion, but didn't see much
- From dmitri (representing MEC):
- collaboration with John Eggert 6 months
- in-house proposal not accepted yet
- how many detectors? only one, possibly two.
- will it come often? used 2 or 3 times per run perhaps.
- rate? 1 shot every 7 minutes with long-pulse laser.
- may want to run at 10Hz to make sure they have right q coverage ("setup")
- wanted april/may 2023 for in-house beamtime.
- could use epix10k as fall-back
- will take some pre-long-pulse-laser FEL shots (10?). not too many to avoid damaging sample. run a sequence for this?
- need it visible in ami? dmitri says not mandatory (would have to bin a lot)
- independent/standalone running: software called XIS, and another more expert software a petra beam line PO2.2
- dmitri would like it integrated. wants it to be "standard configuration".
- have done standalone in the past with other devices
- maybe run standalone windows and save all data with approximate timestamp (could be off by one)
- detector has a lot of background. 3000 counts are background. can be off-by-one. can persist across readouts if oversaturated (ghost correction)
- eu-xfel saves all events, and search for the "bright" image
- getting help
- suzanne ali
- clemens prescher: advice on current system
- peregrine mcgee can perhaps help?
