This procedure describes how to document and shutdown the laser for long down times (i.e. Winter Closure) and power outages.

Document the laser state

Pictures in the logbook are always better than numbers in a spread sheet.

Laser downtime shutdown documentation items. All logbook entries should contain "S10 Laser @ shutdown 2022", change the year as appropriate.

  1. Vitara
    1. Record pump laser set point. The black Coherent box with the green LED that says “output power”.  ex : http://physics-elog.slac.stanford.edu/facetelog/show.jsp?dir=/2021/50/17.12&pos=2021-12-17T16:26:12
    2. Post an image to the logbook of the Vitara spectrum. ex : http://physics-elog.slac.stanford.edu/facetelog/show.jsp?dir=/2021/50/17.12&pos=2021-12-17T16:26:06
    3. Post images of all the panels in the Vitara control software
    4. Post image of the RF lock: ex: http://physics-elog.slac.stanford.edu/facetelog/show.jsp?dir=/2021/50/19.12&pos=2021-12-19T23:24:28
      1. Double check that the whole image makes it into the logbook
    5. Post image of the Femtosecond script, ex: http://physics-elog.slac.stanford.edu/facetelog/show.jsp?dir=/2021/50/19.12&pos=2021-12-19T23:24:31
  2. Regen
    1. Check all SDG screens against the summary posted in the laser room. If they are different, post an image to the logbook and indicate what is different and that none of the other screens are different. Link to S10 Laser Drive that contains directory for Andy's service documents, look for the newest one: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1I846GetQfdcpEfJKtCN45D34aNHP6DYV?usp=share_link
      1. Alternatively, post pictures of all the SDG screens to the logbook.
    2. Post an image of the regen buildup to the logbook, ex: http://physics-elog.slac.stanford.edu/facetelog/show.jsp?dir=/2021/50/17.12&pos=2021-12-17T16:27:15
    3. Post an image of the pulse picker pickles cell voltage to the logbook, ex: http://physics-elog.slac.stanford.edu/facetelog/show.jsp?dir=/2021/50/17.12&pos=2021-12-17T16:27:21
    4. Post an image of the "system" tab of the legend control computer, ex: http://physics-elog.slac.stanford.edu/facetelog/show.jsp?dir=/2021/50/17.12&pos=2021-12-17T16:27:26
  3. Revolutions (MPA pump lasers)
    1. Post an image of the "system" tab of the revolution control computers to the the logbook: http://physics-elog.slac.stanford.edu/facetelog/show.jsp?dir=/2021/50/17.12&pos=2021-12-17T16:27:33
  4. Record the energy throughout the system: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1OkifFC2Dw0UpbIavq1T5kBR-vykIuglx/edit#gid=698192852
  5. Post images of the "Motor Setup" for all five motion controllers in S10: MOC-LR10-LS03, MOC-LR10-LS04, MOC-LR10-LS05, MOC-IN10-LS01, MOC-IN10-LS02
  6. Post image of the trigger panel "Laser Master Timing"

Shutting down the laser

  1. Measure the laser energy and update S10 energy document: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1OkifFC2Dw0UpbIavq1T5kBR-vykIuglx/edit#gid=698192852
  2. Shutdown the Evolutions
    1. Turn off the pump laser using the computer control panel (red STOP button)
    2. Turn the key on the control units to "off"
    3. On the control panel select "ramp down the LBO"
    4. Wait until LBO temp reaches set point (70 degrees)
    5. Switch off control box
  3. Shutdown the Revolution (regen)
    1. Turn off the pump laser using the computer control panel (red STOP button)
    2. Turn the key on the control unit to "off"
    3. On the control panel select "ramp down the LBO"
    4. Wait until LBO temp reaches set point (70 degrees)
    5. Switch off control box
  4. Shutdown the Vitara
    1. Disable the RF lock
      1. Disable RF Lock
      2. Make sure to power down the piezo amp
    2. Turn off the pump laser using the computer control panel. Turn off "remote control".
    3. Turn the key to the control unit to "off"
