NEWS (2017-09-20) Login to np04-srv-010 for RCE works.

 

The RCEs was relocated to EHN1 on Jun 15, 2017.

Outsider must go through lxplus.cern.ch to access the RCEs.

Outside CERN:

>> ssh <lxplus_user>@lxplus.cern.ch

 

Setup Kerbose

>> kinit <MYUSER>@CERN.CH

 

Inside CERN or after login to lxplus

>> ssh np04-srv-010

>> source /nfs/sw/rce/setup.sh

 

The RCE software / firmware / SDK / git tools are stored in /nfs/sw/rce.

You can go to the software directory using "cd $RCE_SW".

 

A development version of the RCE software is mounted to CERN-100 and CENR-102.

>> source /nfs/sw/rce/setup.sh dev

X2Go (Under testing)

Installed on Aug 1, 2017 to see if it speeds up connection from U.S.

  1. Download X2Go client from http://x2go.org.
  2. Create a new session (see the screen capture below).
  3. Choose "OPENBOX" for the "Session type". GNOME does NOT work.
  4. On "Connection" tab, fine tune the connection speed, compression, and image quality according your connection speed.
  5. Turn off sound on "Meida" tab.
  6. Choose desired resolution, and connect using lxplus password.
  7. Once login, an X-Windows with grey background pops up. Open terminal / other apps using mouse right click.

 

Note: Login to np04-srv-010 instead of pdaq-gen03-daq0.
