• Installing Yunhai Cai's new Scientific Computing environment
• Almost finished with the transfer of all Babar data from the old tape silos to the new 8500's.
• In January the old tape silos will be removed from building 50 freeing nearly 2000 square feet
• Completed adding 900 KVa to the building 50 DC, with another 1 Mw on the way by next summer.
• The SRCF datacenter build project is in design-phase, completion scheduled in 2013.
• Citrix Xen App 6.0 upgrade is scheduled to be completed early January
• Windows 7 and IE8 phased rollout will begin early January (new builds and special requests)
• Departmental Support is involved in Sandy's Centralized Support (CMFD) program, working first with SSRL, AD and Pulse
• The AT&T permanent cell antenna and a new Verizon permanent cell antenna are being installed on building 50.
• Hector Prado has been selected as IT Departmental Support manager and Antonio Cesaracciu as our new Network Architect
• IDOL Search has been implemented for our web sites, later may be rolled out to cover SharePoint and confluence
• Instant Messenger federation by implementing OCS 2007 early next year
• Database roadmap completed and placed to EAhome
• WCM Roadmap is close to completion
• Crowd for confluence will be implemented early next year
• Lsoft Listserv replacing Majordomo early next year
• Scientific Funding Model is being simplified and comments added for use by the office of the CFO
• ITIL processes are being looked at, we are constructing a roadmap to determine its value, sequence of implementation and cost
• Technical Design Review process has been developed and will be implemented starting in January
• Technology Roadmapping (longer term planning ) methodology has been implemented
• Strategic Sourcing project is in vendor selection phase. Goal make decision about and plan the future of the SLAC ERP system
• Electronic timecards project selected SaaS vendor (vorksoft)
• New head of IT project office has been hired (Kathy Nakazawa)
• Selection of Secure Web Gateway (CPP sensor) is ongoing
• BaBar LTDA project ongoing
• Forum tool selection is ongoing
• Google analytics has been implemented on most of our web sites
• SLAC lectures are available on streaming video
• Taleo's recruitment module planned to be implemented early next year
• IT created the first draft of its Service Portfolio for review by the IT Sub-council
• Travel system improvements under way
• Direct deposit system is being implemented (travel expense reimbursement via direct deposit)
• Number of pagers across the lab has been reduced from ca. 500 to ca. 200
• Les looked at other labs IP management strategies/tools and will provide summary
• Data Loss Protection solution has been partially implemented
• Xpression training is coming
