Troubleshooting using a Linux Machine:

7-3 is currently the only SSRL XAS beam line where the beam line linux computer is virtual. This doesn't change much about how you would troubleshoot ICS, etc, but it does make it a bit different.

At other XAS beam lines, the linux box that is physically at the beam line is the one you would open up a terminal window on for various troubleshooting needs, such as restarting ics. At 7-3, this process has an added step of needing to SSH into the virtual machine.

To do this:

On beam line linux pc (left most computer on the desk), open up a terminal window.

Type:

ssh -X b_user@s073lxv

It will prompt you for your b_user account password. Type your password and hit Enter.

From here, you will be able to type commands (from Restarting ICS) into the terminal window.
