If you are bringing equipment to CERN that may eventually have to be shipped back to SLAC, please fill in a “Transport Request (Arrival)” form in EDH documenting serial numbers and other identification information. Otherwise, it will be difficult to later prove that SLAC is the lawful owner of the equipment and we are therefore allowed to ship back.
Examples of equipment include laptop computers, readout electronics and so on. A laptop that comes into CERN and then leaves CERN in your backpack should not go through this process. However, if you plan to leave the laptop behind — you are getting a new one, you are leaving SLAC, etc — please do fill in the form when the decision is made.
Note: We are advised by CERN to do this. However, we have no experience with it so you may experience glitches.
