IMS motors are somewhat outdated and are not used in LCLS-II upgrade equipment. However, they still have a strong presence in the far hall and are often in need of trouble shooting. This document is to walk you through the simple procedure of moving a motor as well as the more complex steps of diagnosing IMS motor issues.

Moving IMS motors

Get onto a hutch machine (e.g. cxi-control, xpp-monitor, ... ) and open up the Epics home screen for that hutch (e.g. type xpphome in the terminal). After navigating to the motor by selecting the correct stand you can either use the motor controls here or you can open the motor-expert-screen by either pushing the "expert" button or by pushing the "CNTRL" button and selecting "detailed". This screen will show more parameters related to the motor motion. Lets go over what these parameters mean.

Here is an example motor-expert-screen. You can get to it by either finding it on the CXI home screen or by typing into the terminal
