Confluence is widely used by the CDMS collaboration for its internal documentation so the first step as a new member of the collaboration is to gain access to our internal Confluence space.

If you plan to access and analyze data please get a full SLAC account.

If you don't plan to analyze data, you can get access to Confluence via an external account.  Note that you can either apply for a SLAC Account or for Confluence access, not for both at the same time. If you already have Confluence access and need a full account, please send an email to cdms-slac-contact.

  1. Before requesting a Confluence account, you must be a registered member of the CDMS Collaboration. The registration page is linked  here .
  2. Email the SLAC point of contact (POC) at  cdms-slac-contact@slac.stanford.edu to request access to Confluence. The POC will ask the Confluence administrators to send you an invitation via email with a subject line like "Collaborator Invitation to SLAC resources". Access to Confluence is granted through federated login. If you are unable to locate your home institution then search for and use SLAC Guest. This page will explain step by step how to set up a guest account in order to access confluence.
    1. Here is an example email to cdms-slac-contac:
    2. Subject: requesting confluence-only access ; Message: Hello, I am <name> and I am a new CDMS member and am requesting confluence-only access.
  3. For the curious reader

Note that you can either apply for a SLAC Account or for Confluence access, not for both at the same time. If you already have Confluence access and need a full account, please send an email to cdms-slac-contact.
You will need a SLAC computer account if you plan to analyze any SuperCDMS data at SLAC.  To get access to Confluence, you will need have your SLAC computer account linked to Confluence (see Step 6 below).  Once your SLAC computing account and Confluence accounts are linked, the same username and password will give you access to both.
Please be aware that the approval process of your user application can be quite long (typically 2-3weeks).

  1. Before requesting a SLAC username and account, you must be a registered member of the CDMS Collaboration.  The registration page is linked  here.

  2. Become a SLAC User (member of SLUO, the SLAC User Organization).
To enroll, follow the instructions at the Scientific Collaborative Researcher Registration Site: https://it.slac.stanford.edu/identity/scientific-collaborative-researcher-registration
If your home institution is not in the list, follow the link right below the drop down menu: "If your organization is not listed above, please use this form to register."
NOTE: Please report to cdms-slac-contact any problem that you may find.

    Expand
    titleSLUO form details
    • SLAC Project:  select CDMS
    • Point of Contact (POC): Richard Partridge

When your enrollment is approved by the POC (typically <24h), you will receive further instructions to:

    1. Fill the Site Access Form
    2. Provide a CV
      1. You will be asked to upload a CV. The upload link is only valid for 24 hours so your prompt action is needed. If you miss the time window please contact the SLUO office so that they can issue a new upload link.
      2. the CV has to be written in English, have only work and education content (starting with college years) with no time gaps in the last 10 years (please specify if you took a sabbatical, was in-between jobs, took extended leave, etc that broke employment continuity).
A timely follow up will help with speeding up the approval process.
  3. When the registration is complete you will receive an email containing your SLAC ID (SID) number that is needed for cyber security training.
Note: Your username will be automatically generated by SLAC IT.
Follow directions for changing the default password(s) as soon as possible.

  4. You swill need to complete Cyber Security Basics training within 5 days of your account activation. You will also need to take periodic cyber security refresher courses. Email notifications will be sent to you as a reminder. Failing to take the training within the due date will result in the account locking, pending completion of the course.

  5. Please let cdms-slac-contact@slac.stanford.edu know that you received a SLAC account.

  6. Once you have your SLAC computer account, you still need to get access to the CDMS Confluence space.  Send an e-mail to the CDMS computer coordinator cdms-slac-contact@slac.stanford.edu asking for access to the CDMS group space on Confluence.

  7. Move on to  Working with SLAC Computing Systems (CDMS Confluence space access required) to test out your new account.

If your supervisor has a SNOLAB account → Please ask them to fill in the new user form https://www.snolab.ca/orbeon/fr/ComputingSupport/NewSNOLABUserAccount/new.

Form submission info:

    • Start date: SNOLAB IT will not give you access until after the start date. Usually choose the earliest day possible (the day you submit the form)
    • Account review date: your estimate for when the account will no long be needed. Often ~7yr for a PhD student, etc. I often pad by a year to reduce the hassle.

For Supervisor with a SNOLAB account filling the new user form:
Please make sure to tick "VPN-CUTE", "VPN-SCDSM" and "CUTE" and "SuperCDMS" in the collaboration name.

If otherwise, send an email to Joel(Joel.Sander@usd.edu).

Email subject: "SNOLAB New User Account" and fill in the form https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeQz7NS7qgnzaIz1-g1HjY8cTRQCa5SB7hq_bqZ0LcYVJMVQg/viewform?usp=sf_link

The account creation is not immediate. It needs to be approved by SNOLAB-IT and might take up to 5 working days according to their workload.

User will need to install a VPN+ZTNA package on your computer to be able to access the network. The instructions for how to do this can be found on the SNOLAB Sharepoint site that you can access only if you have a SNOLAB account

For instructions on accessing the CUTE machines, see https://www.snolab.ca/cute/private/TWiki/bin/view/Main/Computing. (same SNOLAB account credentials to login)
